Why would you disrepect anyone doing soundtracks? Considering the creative process, and the audience you can play to, I would consider it a dream job. Gigging may be fun, but it doesn't pay well and doesn't contribute to a normal consistent life (ie one with family).
I suppose I just wasn't aware that on the totem pole of music, that soundtrack work could be lower than playing live.
As a classically trained musician, I can only dream of writing a soundtrack. Any fool can get on stage (and I have!).

Oh yea, I get it. That fool comment was meant to be self deprecating, not a comment on the bar scene You're right - bar owners want people to show up and buy lots of food and drinks. If you suck, you scare money away.
That must be why I didn't get invited back...!
