Re: Another rail trio
Very nice! Aren't they great instruments to play? They're so light, they never wear down on your shoulder, and they sound really good despite the relative lack of a body. Show us some pictures!

Re: Another rail trio
Very nice! Do you know what kind of pickup is in the red one? Care to share the serial numbers? Also, how about pictures of the Quantum too?
I'm glad I'm not the only one with such a love for the Rails.

The red one has the same Magnaflux pick up, but the previous owner take off the finish black paint, same way the rails.

About the love for the rails, i think that only a few people get the oportunity of feel the pleasure of play this kind of piece of art, when i got the chance, i let other players to play the rail and they agree the instrument is fine, they love it!
And finally, guess wich number is in the black one.- " 84009 "
What happen that day? I know this is not the only one!

Re: Another rail trio
In my experience, most black Rail basses are 84009- I know mine is! The same goes for black Quantums. I'm not as familiar with Quantums, but I know in 1984 Rail basses only came in black and all seem to have had the same serial number. I would assume this goes for 1984 Quantums as well. The 1985 models not only have correctly varying serial numbers, but also have been improved upon! Most notable is that the strings are parallel to the rails, as the should have been originally. The other changes are either common sense or minor visual changes. But anyway, if you want to be technical, neither of us has a full Rail set! We both lack a black 1985. Or 1986, I've heard there was limited production in 86 as well, but I've never seen one...
How weird that your red one has been de-blacked! I'm glad it has the original pickup though, the Magnaflux RBs are amazing, I would never replace them.

I'm agree with you, but i mean rail trio only in color. The white one serial number is
"507400". Do you know the year was made?

Re: Another rail trio
84009 (on your black one) is obviously 1984. The six digit code on your white one begins with a 5, which corresponds to 1985. What number is on the red one? And where did you get that green string on the white one?

The red one is " 507363 " , and yours?
The green string is from a set of a brand called Alice made in China with high-quality material imported from Japan and Germany. The model is A609 nickel alloy wound, light , colourful strings. 1-st in green, 2-nd in red, 3-rd in yellow, and 4-th in blue colors, and cost arround $ 7.- dlls.
When i get the white one , the 1-st string was mising, then i put the string from this set, and now the hole set is on it, look weird!

Re: Another rail trio
I'd really like a set of those strings! They sound pretty neat. I found that I actually have two sets of them for guitar, though only the three low strings are colored. I think they came with one of my guitars. As for my Rails, the black is 84009, red is 506383, and white is 507209.

The guitar set is AE535, super light, coated steel, nickel alloy wound, and they made a set for acoustic guitar also. Do you want a set for you? I don't know how easy is send it to you, but i could try.

Re: Another rail trio
Don't worry about sending me strings, I will look for a set the next time I need to replace a set. Thank you for the offer, though!
