It's like the people in my neighbourhood who rip out the carefully reproduced "heritage" wooden railings off their porch and replace it with hideously inappropriate wrought iron railing!

Yup, I thought that as well Polly .... and it resides only two miles from me in the beautiful town of Kenilworth!

By the way, I've now relocated to Coventry .... bombed during the War and destroyed by town planners !

Its amazing how wrong the Fender jack plate and black dials look on that Thunder. It lets me see how good the original design was, and somethings are best left as they were. The raised string ferrules on the back look out of place as well. Did this early model Thunder 1 come with two coil switches?

Ho Hum, went and visited the store today and saw the offending item! It looks even worse in the flesh. Dirty, worn lacquer, Knobs are wrong as are the switches. As for the strat jack plate .... !!! And the store price £249 .... ebay £149 .... my value £49 ... cost too much in time and effort fix bring back to original.

By the way, its a Jan 81 model.

Personally, I would hang for the "right" model and pay £80 -£120. Still its your choice !!
