Nice FX, Spectrums finest

Post  hobster on Tue Nov 15, 2011 4:56 am

Here is a nice FX in the US. High starting bid, in fact way too high. Looks to be a beauty though, clean looking white FX from 86 with the heelless set neck. Kind of interesting, the truss rod is recessed at the headstock unlike any i have seen with a FT tremolo system. The locking nut is not original, unless it is some wierd transition period between the FT and Bendmaster. Great guitar, i like it Exclamation Exclamation Very Happy

God that's desperately pretty... Look at that headstock!! There appears to be something awry with that bridge: it looks a little out of alignment?

That's a rare one indeed.
Missing it's fine tuners as well as the 'looks like' stripped string clamp bolts.
Hasn't someone on here got a mass of Spectrums, swap a bridge over. String clamp should be no problem.
Also looks as if the bridge post inserts have come out a wee bit, tap, tap.
If it wasn't over in the US, I'd have a bid. Smile and I'm not even into Spectrums.

I can see nothing wrong with this guitar, although like Westbone, Speccies ain't for me. I think that I have the close vision of a mole. In a perverse sort of a way, when I buy a guitar and receive it, if it perfect it gets slung in a case and left to mature. I am really far more interested in guitars I can improve. That way I can bond with them.

Weird or what!!

Yeah, she sure is pretty Very Happy. Sure seems like a rare one, and i like the fact that the stripe isn't there at all. I have a black one because the stripe is not pronounced at all but this baby is even sweeter. The bridge thing could be as simple as 1 screw being higher than the other, you can see in the picture it is slammed all the way back against the body. $350 seems a bit high, they usually go for under 3 bills. Who knows, maybe its worth that amount because of its rarity. I love my FX, the tone possibilities are endless!! So many variations its almost overkill, they are fun to mess around with thats for sure. Wink
