Spectrum MX
I bought this the other day because it was cheap and it was local. I was not going to keep it as I didn't really think I liked them. It is the painted finger board that I was prejudiced against
When I got it, it was dirty, neglected, had some dings and the middle pickup was goosed.
I cleaned it up, drop filled it and used the pickup coil from a Sunn Mustang and the pole pieces, magnet and housing from the Spectrum to give an 8.5k ohms middle pickup.
I have now decided to like it and I am going to keep it.

Re: Spectrum MX
Yeah Corair and Caucajun - It's a really nice player with a good variety of sounds, mostly Strat but almost verging on a telecaster when using coiltap on the bridge pickup.
It's a bit too blue, a bit too painted, and lacking in proper fret markers - but it's OK and I am going to keep it for now.

Re: Spectrum MX
I don't care for the painted fretboards either but, hey! it's a Spectrum fer Pete's sake!
You just cannot go wrong with a Spec!
I do love the blue body finish though. Don't have that colour...yet.

Re: Spectrum MX
how many years of playing does it take to wear through the blue on the fretboard?

Re: Spectrum MX
Caucajun I'd take yours off your hands if I had the money or if I was willing to trade anything. Unfortunately, I'm broke and I love what I've got. I'll let you know when I've got enough to spare, if that day ever comes!

Re: Spectrum MX
I've also got one of these, I just can't play it
Still learnin, but always tend to grab the acoustic just cause it's quicker
I'm pretty sure my MX will be in the "For Sale" section within the next week. Hopefully someone here will be interested.
