Rainbow.... maybe??

God help me, I was just watching the video of" True" - Spandau Ballet - I was bored, OK; pommy TV is appalling!!! - and at the very end is a shot of Gary Kemp who seems to be playing a white Rainbow. I've tried Youtubing it but the clip there is about 20 seconds too short; the bit that made me sit up and take notice was right at the end!!

Anyone confirm or deny????

Yes that's a White Rainbow, very rare. Popped in a local shop (Romford) and they had a very good one for £250. Offerd them a washburn falcon as a trade in, The ;king salesman wanted to give me £45. for the washboard. I walked out in disgust. Should have swallowed my pride.

Note the 'F' holes.

We have a winner; thanks bro!! Shame there isn't a decent close up of the headstock, but gee; they look GOOD in white!!! I'd have a white one in a heartbeat - could care less about them normally!!

A Westone Rainbow for sure looks like an early version script logo longer headstock etc.... oh and diving further into the depths of nerd territory it's Martin Kemp playing the Rainbow who was actually the Bass player in Spandau Ballet..... his older songwriting guitarist brother Gary Kemp is on piano in this vid.

Taking this post one step beyond..... the Rainbow in the video must be a 1982/83 version .....check out the unique shaped f holes





the song True was released in April 1983 so this Westone Rainbow would have been a brand spanking new guitar back then.... NICE!!

I was aimlessly channel-surfing and found the vid on a channel over here called Scuzz, which is normally a heavy metal channel and just got a glimpse of the white guitar which piqued my interest... had to watch the whole thing to see if there were any better shots of it - there weren't, but that live clip that Westbone linked to is not the one I saw; it's way better!! For guitar spotting.

Besides, o worthy ones, which of you who have performed onstage hasn't done a balled like this as a panty-wettener?? Hmmm???
