Kay Basses

Does anyone know anything about Kay basses. I have my eye on a project locally sans electronics / pickups. It is constructed in the same way as Thunder III with a multi laminate thru neck and , apart from the controls, it would be a dead ringer for a Vantage VP bass. Even the bridge looks the same. The wings on the Kay look like maple.

Did Mat make products for Kay? Has anybody had experience/ knowledge of this bass?
