Bendmaster FT

Post  corsair on Wed Jun 09, 2010 10:44 am

Rightio, I'm organising some steel and files and am about to hie me forth and endeavor to fabricate a string claw! Fear not, though - I have a gunsmith making one for me as well!

However the point of this post is that I may have accidentally found some saddles that will fit an FT whilst rummaging about in the local guitar shops spares box...

Chris - the shop owner - reckons this was off a Hohner superstrat and the similarities between this and the FT are striking in that the base plate is a very close match, though not quite close enough to just drop in, it has the same sort of string claw setup and the fine tuners are the same length!! He was good enough to give me one - he has 2 - so if anyone needs a saddle for an FT, give me a shout and I'll fire one your way!!

overview, Westone on the left...

Isn't that interesting. Well done Sherlock.
But it strikes me as a good news/bad news scenario...
What are the chances of finding Hohner super strat's let alone their bridges? For a company whose rep was built on harmonicas, I fear that these guitar parts will be even harder to find than Westie's.

Yeah, no worries but be aware the saddles aren't EXACTLY the same; the Hohner ones are a little chunkier where the adjusting screw attaches...

Yep; PM me your postal addy and I'll fire one your way...

Eric - on it's way... and the o ring works a treat!! Those with wang bars with a groove or two above the threads, get a rubber 'o' ring and try it...

..it has occurred to me to put a picture up....

Hey, i just put 2 and 2 together and realized where you live. Pretty cool, when i was younger living in Holland we took school trips to England and France and one day we visited Jersey. I think i still have a little penant from the war museum there. Very cool island, i have fond memories. Man, i really miss Europe sometimes.

No worries, buddy; glad to help! And at least you've got some coastline there in Oregon; you could be in Kansas....

Thread for Bendmaster Tremolo bar

Post  rastakowboy on Wed Jun 23, 2010 12:28 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know the thread of the Bendmaster Tremolo? Does it differ between the FT and the Deluxe? Looking for a replacement on a Westone Dynasty. Being MIJ it should be metric , no?

Thanks!

6mm fine. No difference between the threads on the Deluxe and the FT but the bars themselves are different. There pix around here that show both, I think...

AT Stewmac look under "Foreign" or "Imported" in the wang bar section...

Saddle block

Post  Ragnarawk on Thu Jun 24, 2010 2:43 am

Hey so that one that isn't the FT, the one on the right in most pictures, I own, and need some parts for. Do you happen to have the sustain block? I see the tuning pins in the picture, but if you have the sustain block, that would be awesome.

You want the sustain block for an Bendmaster Deluxe, is that right? Or for that one you're showing which looks to be a FR.... Sorry, bro; I don't have anything remotely like a sustain block and the one of that Hohner I found was long gone. There is a bit of chat recently here about sustain blocks; have a read and see what you reckon...
