Westone Thunder 1 - February 1982

Post  bowenjaybee on Thu Mar 18, 2010 12:38 pm

The sun is shining here in the UK so I thought I'd take my newly purchased Thunder 1 out in the yard for a few photos.

I have played Thunder basses for 20 years but this is my 1st Westone 6 string, I am extremely happy with the guitar and it looks, sounds and plays beautiful.

And a couple of shots with big brother

They are very close in production too, the bass is 2010866 and the
guitar is 2020007

Very, very nice. A right pair. What camera did you use it takes a nice photo. Those guitars are in top nick.

thanks! they really are sweet looking guitars, My camera is a Sony DSC-W90, nothing special really but it takes nice photos in natural light and the closeup macro mode is excellent (pics 2 & 6) but not very good indoors with flash, that's why I took quick advantage of the sun.... it's raining now

The number of zeroes in that serial number is pretty amazing, on top of it being a gorgeous guitar! Great catch.

Very nice! They are great pics, too! The playability on the Thunder 1(a)'s really is something, isn't it..! I'm always amazed when I play mine. Easier to play than any of my other guitars. All of which were more expensive....!

Very clean and nice Thunder 1. They pop up quite regularly on Ebay UK, alas most sellers don't ship outside the UK. Here in Holland you don't see them that often. Still got some work to do on my black Thunder 1, it will never look as good as yours. Congrats!

I have been very lucky with my recent Thunder 1 bass and Thunder 1 guitar finds, both are in great condition for 28 year old guitars. Although they are probably the most common Westones i think it would be hard to find either of these in such amazing condition again, unless of course i built a time machine and went back to 1982.

I'm now in search of excellent condition Spectrum models.... and if I find a bass as nice as this

I'll be a very happy man, it really is beautiful

I've got the bug!!

Congratulations! The Thunder's in gorgeous condition!
And as far as the Spec's go, you'll not be disappointed. They're among the best production instruments ever made IMHO.
Fair warning: that "bug" can end up getting out of hand! Before long you will be an MAA* member like the rest of we sorry buggers!

The Thunders might be the most common on your side of the pond, but over here they're less common. The Spectrums take the crown for most common here (especially since they're based on the USA-only Electra Phoenix).
