RESTORED PADDY FINISHED (FINALLY)
Well People,
The Paddy is finally re-assembled, i hope that you all enjoy the pictures.
Big thank you to polly who did all of the hard work, if it wasn't for all of her constant pushing it would still be in pieces.
These Paduak's are an aquired taste, and not everybody likes them but please let me know what you think of her.

Simply Gorgeous!
Very nice job on the guitar. Looks amazing and is a definite attention getter. I bet there are quite a few of us that are envious. I would love one but up to now have only had a chance to purchase a leader which is just not as nice. Congratulations on bringing it back to original glory.

+1
That guitar is perhap one of the nicest I've seen on this site yet!
I've never actually seen one on ebay, though I guess there may have been a few. Next time I get a chance to grab one, I'll do my best to get it!

Hi there Zube,
Well mate, it looks like all my nagging finally paid off!
Well done there!
I got the easy job really and I can honestly say, it was a pleasure to do it for you!
For all of you who don't know, when Zube bought this guitar, it was in pretty good condition although it had been coated in a very yellow coloured and high gloss lacquer at some stage in its life. One or two of the features of 'Padauk' wood is the open grain and it also darkens with age. When new, it is the beautiful orange colour that it is now.
That said, I have included the link to the Photobucket album which covers every stage of the restoration process so that you can see exactly what it was like when it arrived and how the transformation progressed. Enjoy!

Very pretty, indeed; but I still don't want one, sorry all you Padauk fans!! But that is surely a top drawer job; well done to all involved

Re: RESTORED PADDY FINISHED (FINALLY)
What a difference after looking at the 4 pages of photos. Polly, you are being modest, what a great job you did in bringing it back! Now this is a silly question and I know that I should know the answer but…what is behind the little cavity cover under the tremolo cavity cover? Is it the wiring for the phase and coil tap switches or is something active in the Paddy and that is the battery compartment? I like to think it is a compartment to hide the receipt in so your wife or husband never finds out how much you paid for the guitar, now that would be genius.
Re: RESTORED PADDY FINISHED (FINALLY)
Hi chaps,
Thanks for the compliments about my work, and of course all of Zube's work on the hardware and putting it back together again! I reckon it was pretty much a joint effort even if we do live at opposite ends of the UK, more or less!
Bout,
Zube's Paddy is a slightly different model to mine but I'm assuming that the little compartment you are referring to, does indeed house the battery, the same as it does on mine. Nice idea for it though!
I'm sure that I could find some little bits and pieces to ferret away in mine, and nobody would think to look for them there!

Re: RESTORED PADDY FINISHED (FINALLY)
Thank you kind people one and all.
Glad you all enjoyed the pictures and as polly has already stated it wasn't in the worse condition when i got it, but i am very anal regarding these things and wanted it to look just right so there you have it.
Sounds pretty good too, bright and jangly bit like a strat but to be honest it has it's own voice. It has lots of sustain and the active circuit does give you a real kick when you need it.

Paduak
I was having a good look through all the old posts and found this and i just gotta bring it up to the front again. when I started my interest in Westones i always thought Paduaks were the ugliest and strangest guitars ever made and I just overlooked them. over time I have come to really like them and seeing this one has just pushed me over the edge into a full blown Paduak addict. I just gotta get my hands on one of these totally unique works of art
I still think they are strange but strange can be very nice indeed!

Re: RESTORED PADDY FINISHED (FINALLY)
A Paddy with a whammy? Is that original?
Apart from that, absolutely amazing job. I still have got to get my lazy a** to work on my Paddy. It'll never look this good but i'll give it a try. There's a little fretwork involved which i would like to try first on other projects...

That thing looks so pristine I wouldn't even want to play it for fear of besmirching it with a ding or finger print!
I know the post is old, but nice job none the less.

Re: RESTORED PADDY FINISHED (FINALLY)
Wonderful resto job! Good on both of ya!
I too used to think Paddy's were kinda weird...but now, I dunno. My opinion changed once I got the Concord II which is a close cousin, methinks.
If a Paddy ever appears around these parts, I'll be on it like poop on a diaper!

Re: RESTORED PADDY FINISHED (FINALLY)
Well, given that I nearly bought one, I still say that they fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.... but this one is superb and a lesson to us all!

Very, very nice job. Probably better than when it left the factory. That's 5 different bridges I've seen on the paduak's. I'll post some pics of mine soon. Lovely grain on yours.
