PRIVATE ADVERTISING

While I firmly believe that you will get a better price for your instrument by advertising it to the masses on Ebay or similar sites, if you have something a bit special, or you want to give an opportunity for your fellow Westone fans to get first refusal...

You may now advertise your Westone guitars and basses for sale privately in this forum area. Think of this as the online equivalent of a For Sale ad in a shop window...

The rules for placing listings are pretty simple:

1. You must upload at least one photograph of the instrument in question.
   
2. You must give an accurate description of the condition of the instrument.
   
3. You must state if the instrument has been modified in any way, e.g. replacement pickups, tuners, pickguards.
   
4. You must state the price you are looking for! Don't ask how much it's worth, and be prepared for some hard bargaining.
   
5. Don't forget to mention which area you live in (Country in particular), and where you are prepared to post it to. Remember, this is an international forum.
   
6. Don't be rude.
   

The rules for those interested in buying an instrument from a private advert are even more straightforward:

1. Conduct all of your business via Private Messages (PM), or direct email. Do not post financial offers on the open forum.
   
2. Feel free to ask questions about the instrument on the open forum, if this will be useful to others.
   
3. Don't be rude.
   

POSTING A LISTING FOR AN INSTRUMENT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN ENDORSEMENT FROM WESTONEGUITARS.NET AND ANY SALE MUST BE CONCLUDED DIRECTLY AND IN PRIVATE.

THIS FORUM IS A CONTACT POINT ONLY

There are some simple ground rules for posting Ebay, Craigslist, TradeMe or other website links on this forum.

1. You can post links to your own auctions/adverts, but please make sure you make it clear in the post that you are the seller.
   
2. Do not use any language that could be viewed as libelous in response to any listings, stick to the facts!
   
3. Please do not post images from auctions/adverts unless you have the express permission of the seller
   
4. The Westone Forums takes no responsibility for any sale that results from listings mentioned on these pages. A link to a listing does not constitute a recommendation from The Westone Forums.
   

I don't need to remind you that there are plenty of unscrupulous sellers and buyers out there, so please be careful, check feedback ratings, don't agree to meet anyone down a dark alley or send cash in the post, etc.

I don't mind if regular forum members (10 posts or more) want to promote their own auctions for non-westone items, just make sure it is a musical instrument - anything else will be deleted.

Same question I guess for Craigslist.

These are relatively hassle free vehicles and much cheaper than eBay! I've purchased 3 Mats guitars from Kijiji in the past 6 months.

Hello Barry,

I'm not sure which posts you are referring to as it is impossible for me to read every single one and it is quite possible that I may have missed it. Have you checked to see if they haven't been moved to a more relevant forum? If not and they have been deleted, Neil has every right to do so.

I mentioned in a previous post that if we were to continually add all the different selling outlets that are on the internet, we would just end up as a free advertising space for any old Tom, Dick or Harry to use, resulting in the loss of the real reason why we have these forums in the first place. As it is, there are still the occasional one or two members who join these forums solely for the purpose of hoping to find a buyer for their guitar. I suspect these members have no respect for the Westone name in any case and are just hoping to make a fast buck.

I hope this clarifies things for you.
