I do realise that it was a footballing (or whatever game Superbowl happens to be

) reference and not personally directed at me, I just happen to detest sexist remarks of any kind.

I'm afraid to say that things have been getting a little bit out of hand here recently since I haven't been around much, due to family circumstances, to keep things in check. I have noticed that a few unacceptable comments have been slipping through the net and I hate having to play the heavy in these instances as I have faith in all my members and trust everybody to behave when I'm not here.

Anyway, this little speech isn't aimed at anyone in particular, just a general observation on my part.

Keep on rockin' guys, I love you all!

Yeah, I was wondering if you got the original reference Polly. It was a big deal in America and to a lesser extent in Canada; incessant righteous posturing on both sides of the (non) "issue".

So. According to the news here, New Orleans won. Yay?!

Aussies take their sport REALLY seriously; the aoartments where we're put up has 6 sport channels, so that's no bloody good for me; I hate most sports, in particular team sports, and sports where people earn obscene amounts of money for belting a little ball, or another "sportsman", around the place

I'm not much of a regular sports fan either. I'll watch the Olympics and might have a look at the World Series (baseball) or Stanley Cup (hockey) when they roll around, but almost never the Super Bowl except for maybe the half time show. This time out however, I actually watched most of the game (with one eye, but I watched).

I had no idea who the players and coaches were, but the attraction was rooting for the underdog New Orleans Saints trying to end a 40-odd year Super bowl drought. (The sentimental favourites too, because of the Hurricane Katrina disaster). It turned out to be a very good game! These things are normally a big over-hyped let down but I was actually entertained.

I wish I could say the same for The Who, who "performed" the half time show. Ya know, I understand the itch to perform, and I appreciate the fact that there's money to be had, but I think there comes a time when ya gotta just STOP! Roger Daltry was passable (barely) but Pete Townsend looked like a homeless person up there and sounded not much better. Guitar work was OK. I thought he might stroke out during one of his many "wind mills", but the vocals? Ugh!

Overall, kinda sad to see the remnants of a once great band trying to do it "one more time."

Yep, watched the 'bowl up to half time to see the Who play.

Can someone recommend an Idiots Guide so I can maybe begin to comprehend the rules? Soccer is easy, I know how this works (US members--- this is "football." We know this, we invented it. Certain other countries notably in South America are quite good at it but it is our national sport)

The underdogs won, so I guess I was supporting (in a mildly confused way) the better team.

And the Who were crap! Top 60s/ 70s band, I've still got the vynil, they headlined Glastonbury a couple of years back and were the best on the day (although the competition weren't up to much). Last night looked like a join-the-dots trot through the back catalogue. Take away the strobes and flashy lighting and it was very average. The Ox was the body & soul, it's been said but what's left is the remnants of a once great band

You're happy, then? I can't see the attraction in watching overpaid dickheads chase a ball around a paddock myself, and rugby is a religion in NZ which puts me at odds with the majority of the population!!!

Good job Cacajun/Saints... The Colts were seriously outcoached. The Who were OK (esp Townsend), despite the medley approach. Hopefully you've recovered by now and are playing your Westone, albeit with shakey mitts.
