Re: Say hello...
Hiya, Fraser - welcome to the nuthouse! Nice back story, too but I've gotta say, you're being a bit of a tease here, eh - we live to look at other people's guitars so please put 'em up for us to look at!
I had an Ibanez 2380 in about 1978 which lasted all of about 3 days; god it was awful so I went back to my telecaster which I used as a trade for my Vantage and I've never looked back, ie never owned anything but Matsumoku guitars with the exception being my old lap steel and a Strat which has been made into a proper guitar!!
Westones in particular, and Matsumoku in general, are a great instrument and I suppose that even though a lot of 'em are now being bought as investments, at least they're being treasured by their new owners. All of mine have at some stage been sweated on and abused onstage at some point and they do seem to thrive on the experience!!
Look forward to seeing your beauties, my friend and chatting some more...
John

Hi there Fraser and Welcome!
I'm based down here in the Midlands but quite often look at Gumtree Glasgow on line. There was a couple of £50 Westones on there recently (a Spectrum and a Thunder in think) which you probably bought !
Nice to see that you an early Thunder 2. Brilliant guitar ! Well nice collection all round. I know Polly will have personal accident when she sees that you have a Paduak.
Lets see some pics eh !

Hello Fraser and Welcome!
Cool story and even cooler collection... let me see, let me see!!!!
Okay Steve, as soon as I saw that Fraser had a Paduak, my little eyes lit up!
Have you noticed though, NOBODY here seems to have a Clipper Six! Where did they all go to I wonder?
Anyway Fraser, you know what you have to do next... get those photos up please!

Re: Say hello...
...just to hijack the thread a bit, but there are some that seem to be almost mythical, like the X-70 and then 2 turn up within a week of each other!! What about the Danas - there's precious few of those in here, and has anyone apart from David even actually seen a Monark?! There's plenty out there to find, eh, kiddies!!!

Hello Pootyman and Welcome!
How about telling us a little bit about yourself and what guitars you've got?

Pootyman - Nice guitars! I haven't seen any Pantera's up here (Canada). Welcome, I think you will like it here! I haven't been around long on this site, but can tell you that there are lots of people on this board with serious knowledge about Westones and guitars in general.

Newbie here with a Pantera X390
Hey everyone . . . I have had a dull black finish Pantera X390 in storage for the better part of 15 years. I just recenly pulled it out and to my surprise it is in mint condition! Hooked it up to an old Crate Amp with tube pre-amp and Celestion speaker and man I was reminded quickly how much I love the guitar. How do I know what year my guitar is? I know it has a Bendmaster Deluxe. But is there any way to confirm the year and rarity (or lack there of) by sight? Thanks in advance! Love the forum!

Re: Say hello...
Hi there and Welcome,
The Pantera's are very, very nice guitars and I am not surprised how much you like yours. To date your guitar, look at the serial number on the back of the headstock. You are only interested in the first three numbers, the first one denotes the year and the second two, the month. So, for example, if it reads 605xxxxx, that will mean that your guitar was made in (6) 1986, during the month of (05) May.
Post some pics so we can all drool

Re: Say hello...
Greetings!
I have my very first Westone, I received it yesterday. It is a Chrome Yellow AX1330, reverse headstock model from '87 or '88. I don't see much info about this model. I really need to set it up, it's ok, but will be stellar with an hour of cleaning and adjusting. I must say the quality is very good and it has a great metal tone, even with 10-year old strings on it.
I'm 39
I love most music.
I'll be lurking around here trying to absorb as much info as I can, this is a great forum! Thanks for starting it.

Re: Say hello...
Hi and Welcome,
Dont lurk around, post some pics, I dont think I have ever seen a Westone in chrome yellow. There are few problems with Westones unless they have been messed around with. Good tonewoods ! If your new arrival is complete, the only item to keep an eye on is the string lock plate, but there are plenty of posts on this subject area.
All the best
Steve

Hi From Kansas
Hey everyone
I was searching for info and came across this site, very cool!
Sometime in the late 80s I bought a new guitar but it's been long gone
since then I could never remember the make, until now.
My wife decided she wanted me to teach her guitar so one day she comes home with this wicked super strat with the name Westone on the headstock. It hit me like a ton of bricks, I used to have one! I'm still trying to figure out the model of the one I had but hers is a Villain Pro. I need to rewire it and do a complete setup but from what I can tell this thing is a shredder! I still do a fair share of shredding, but for the most part I've gotten comfortable with LPs, on the other hand I must say I'm pretty happy having a super strat in the house again
Anyways I'm glad I joined, and you all can look forward to me picking your brains a bit.

Re: Say hello...
Welcome in here, friend; I don't think anyone here's seen a Villain before - you are gonna show it to us, aren't you?!
I don't know an awful lot about the Villains but at this point would assume the wiring to be stock Westone type! What are the pickups on it marked, if anything? There should be markings - hopefully - on the bottom plate...

According to Westone.info, Villain Pros had EMG Select pickups. They were Korean, you know.

Re: Say hello...
Cool; what are they like as p'ups? Yeah, I know they're MIK and not Matsumoku but they intrigue me and are apparently well worthy of the name, as are the Dana series and I'd like to know a little more about them, eh!

It's not enough to just talk about a git on a guitar forum right?

hi All
HI All
I have just found this site after owning a prestige 250 since 1994.
other guitars: Gibson Les Paul Double cut, Aria 12 string acoustic, Honner Proffesional Les Paul L75, Home made Les Paul (just to see if i could do it
)
Basses: Vintage Fretless, Tokai bass (has seen many better days), Harvey Benton acoustic bass and newly aquirred Westone super headless that is very poorly indeed.
Amps: Marshall 8080 valvestate, Marshall JCM 900 combo, and a rare Marshall specialist 1972 combo with a 15" spider cone in it
other stuff: Roland D10, Roland GR50 MIDI guitar synth, MicrKorg, a couple of Bodhrans, homebrew Theremin
The headless is my new multistage restoration project as it has been molested badly but is still a thing of beauty.
I work as a sound engineer and teach music tech, I have just finished my first project as a producer which is due for release on the 28th of September

Re: Say hello...
Hi,
welcome aboard in the nuthouse.
Paste a link to the sound files, if it's possible, you produced recently.
People here are really keen for such things.
Did you also play some of your instruments, the Westones, in this productions?
Then the curiosity is even a level higher.
