Our buddy Racing has been stirring a lot of interest over in the Mats forum with some mods he's made to an inexpensive Chinese made tube amplifier that he's found, and which he swears has awesome "vintage" sound and power...and for little money! (the best part!)

If you're interested in tube sound go have a look see what he's up to:

It can't be easy been a guitar legend, not only do you have to play like you sold your soul every night, you also need to spice up your stage routine with history making and death defying guitar stunts.

Hendrix would dry hump his guitar then set it on fire, Townsend used to impale his guitar through the nearest amp, he also has his trademark windmill strum, although he did end up impaling his hand on a Strat trem arm once while doing it! Jimmy Page played guitar with a violin bow and Paul ...

Part of the reason that I want another PRS grade instrument is due to our ridiculously awesome new PA system. We went with the Bose L1 system - and it has really changed the way we approach our performances. The system is so clear and full range - that what you put in - is what you get out.

While I love that x960 through a conventional amp type rig - it is just not up to snuff in a full range direct input role that I use with the Bose while we are performing. I used it last saturday for ...

In fact, there were no Westones at all in any of the shops; I know this because I asked in every shop! Problem is that I limit music etc. purchases, and other things have seemed to happen.

But I now state that a Westone, targetting a Thunder 1A, is my next highest priority, and I solemnly pledge to keep it at highest priority until I get one.

So, here's hoping that I don't get sidetracked by finding a Fujigen Ibanez Roadster ...

The best I can guess (from the headstock, sharp horn, and lack of coil tap) is that this is a ~ 1979 Aria Pro II les paul copy. Kind of odd in that its plain jane is matched with gold hardware. The neck blocky inserts are found on either LC or LS models, going from the catalogues on the Matsumoku site. The bridge looks like pre-mid eighties stuff. Has anyone seen one like it?

Cheese and rice this tube amp is just lovely. My friend picked one up a while back and i just went to see him play live a couple of weeks back and I almost fell off of my seat when he started playing. He has a PRS guitar and just uses the amp with a foot switch to switch between channels and a little delay to fatten his sound as he is the only guitarist in the band, but no other effects. Spring reverb and an amazing fat clean tone and a beautiful crisp distortion. I scoured the Internet for the ...

I wasn't too happy with the sound of my '96 Marshall vs65 - its a hybrid, not a true tube amp, and it had lots of hum in the clean channel (not related to volume) and no bottom end. This was a pawn shop beauty, so god knows the abuse it withstood. The 12" Goldback speaker looked pooched, the basket was hammered, and on its way out. I also needed a decent eg, cheap Bass amp to practice in the basement. So, I modified the Marshall. Here's what I did:

Quick one here folks - I've found an old 'Satellite' bass guitar (appears to be from the 70's and in fairly good nick) but as far as I'm aware it's a 3/4 scale. So does that mean it'll be 30" as opposed to 34"? Anyone know if the Satellites were any good? And more importantly, is it possible to put a standard scale neck on the body without much hassle, or would there be a load of intonation problems?

There is at least one solid foldable out there, but this is an acoustic!

I want to hear YOUR Music...recorded with a Westone

Does anyone have any music recorded with a Westone? I see a few people posted some of their old band recordings or demo/scratch songs. I love to listen to real peoples music (especially with a Westone playing). I have a million songs, most of which are old 4 track tapes from around 20 years ago. Now I didn't say they are good, but hey, they are songs with a Westone being played...badly. Post your stuff to a file sharing site such as rapidshare or megaupload, or make it a video and upload to youtube. ...

My Westone Spectrum ST Recording Online

Hi all.

I have just released my old band's only studio recording that we did in 1989 and 1991.

It's a long story which is explained on my new tribute web site at http://getback.barryeames.com

I had two good Strat lead players so I didn't get much of a workout (just as well!) but I'm in there too, mostly on rhythm and intros, playing either my trusty Spectrum ST, the Gibson ES-330 or the Ovation 1983 Collectors Edition.

It was fun at the time. Hope you get a kick out of it too!

Hm, since i saw the "aria zz custom" (that one with the stains of blood) that is currently for sale in Toronto I can't get it out of my head...does perhaps someone know about one in Europe that's for sale? I'd be thankful for every help.

Best wishes,

Hondo 11 Professional - Matsumoku?

Anyone know anything about this guitar. I just picked it up this week. Its absolutely gorgeous. Dark wood stained, bolt on neck, similar to SG shape and sporting two cream MMK 45's (original fitment). It has a very Matsumoku type serial number 1040312 (1981?) on the neck plate but that is all it says (No Japan or Matsumoku). Only two knobs, a pickup switch and a mini toggle coil tap switch.

It is obviously a quality instrument and cost me very little, so I'm well chuffed.
